Damaged skin.
Come on, everyone who’s over 30 has to deal with this at least a little…right? We get older, we run into a bunch of pollution outside that we can’t avoid, our skin just doesn’t look as smooth and young as it used to.
It’s all those free radicals — but, we can combat them. We can combat acne, rosacea, and other skin problems, too. (My biggest struggle. Sigh.)
I’ve been using this lavender and green clay mask, and it sure does help pull junk out and make skin smoother. But, I need something else to reduce inflammation and heal the damage from the free radicals. That’s where this comes in.
It has three simple ingredients, and all three are known for healing skin. And it’s super easy to make.
Comfrey and Rose Facial Serum
This smells amazing, too — just like roses!
Comfrey encourages new skin growth, reduces inflammation, can help heal skin infections, and more. It’s one of the go-to herbs for skin issues and healing!
Roses, besides smelling amazing, roses are antibacterial and can help fight acne. They are high in vitamin C, which helps fight free radical damage. They also help your skin stay soft and shrink your pores.
Aloe vera, the liquid in this recipe, has its own skin benefits! It’s antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, meaning it helps to heal acne and reduce redness. It stimulated cell growth to help heal skin faster, and it even contains natural antioxidants to fight damage!
Altogether, these three are a potent combination for healing your skin!
Make Your Own
Ingredients:
- 1/4 c. rose petals
- 1/4 c. comfrey leaf
- 6 oz. aloe vera gel
Directions:
Step 1: Place all ingredients into an 8-oz. or larger glass jar and shake well to combine.
Step 2: Let this sit for about a week, until the rose petals have lost their color (it’s all gone into the gel!).
Step 3: Strain the mixture through a cloth, squeezing out all the liquid (it’ll be pretty thick). Discard the herbs.
That’s it! It could not be simpler and it will take less than 5 minutes of active time. I stored mine (temporarily) in a plastic squeeze bottle I happened to have on hand. I would recommend something like this glass pump bottle, which I intend to get soon.
Use a small amount on skin every night before bed, spreading to cover evenly. I recommend using an oil cleansing blend to wash your face 6x a week, and the lavender and green clay mask on the 7th night. (Instead of infusing the water with lavender, you can use pure water with 15 drops lavender EO, and 2 drops tea tree EO. It will last longer and be a little more powerful.)
Could I just use aloe Vera gel straight from my aloe Vera plants?
What kind of rose petals do you buy? There are quite a few from Mountain Rose Herbs so I was wondering if there was a particular one you bought. 🙂
