Recipe Collection: Spice Mixes

Making your own spice mixes is fun.

They can be customized to suit your family’s palate.  (Don’t like fennel?  Leave it out.)  They don’t contain any yucky MSG, maltodextrin, anti-caking agents, or other stuff you’d prefer not be in your family’s food.  And they save you time.  If you mix them up all at once, then you have them ready when you need them!

Today I’m sharing 4 with you.  And don’t forget my taco seasoning too.

At the bottom, you’ll actually find baking powder, which is not technically a spice mix.  But, store-bought baking powder contains aluminum, which is not good for us.  Making your own is so simple, so why not?  It’s also pretty cheap.

  1. Does the home-made baking powder substitute 1 for 1 in recipes that call for baking powder? I’ve seen similar recipes for it and none of them have worked 1 for 1, always some kind of crazy math involved…
